1.          INTRODUCTION

The objective of this course is to create employment for the so-called “unemployable” youth to enable them to find employment in the apparel industry.

This course has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the students, who have not been able to pass his secondary school certificate exams. Adequate training in fashion designing has been planned to be imparting to the individual to enable him to obtain employment in the apparel and manufacturing industry and related area.

This is a government approved vocational course and is therefore within the reach of every individual who is interested in the apparel industry. It is also a course of only one-year duration and is therefore not burdensome.

2.          OBJECTIVES

1)                   Develop skills of garment making

2)                   Develop skills in various aspects of dress designing

3)                   Create and sketch fashion garments

4)                   Stitch and finish a garment

5)                   Costing of a garment

6)                   Create awareness for self employment

7)                   Quality assessment of garments.

3.          SKILLS TO BE PROVIDED

1)                   Draft and adapt basic block to develop pattern for various garments.

2)                   Draw fashion figures skillfully

3)                   Sketch and colour fashion figures.

4)                   Take orders from customers and be able to set up a garment unit.

5)                   Design cloth, which are function as well as fashionable.
